Cheapest EV Options

Looking at replacing a Mk1 focus in the near future, mostly for cosmetic reasons as it's shabby looking but it has proved reliable.
We are not looking at spending much money so wanted to gauge whether an EV would be worth stretching our budget?
The cheapest I can find is a Mk1 leaf for about €6k with 80-90km range which wouldn't suit our needs - the OH works in construction with various locations and no access to work chargers.
Are there any other options I'm missing with I'm guessing a max budget of 10k?

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

For your budget there are no EVs that can do more than 90km range unfortunately. You could get a '14 Leaf for your budget that normally has a higher range than that, but not on a rainy / windy day in winter

Are you and your OH a one car household?

Not quite, we have one car and a small campervan but I use a motorcycle the vast majority of the time. We can take the camper if we need to make the odd long-distance drive but the ev would need to be able to deal with a round-trip commute anywhere within greater Dublin area without charging during the day. What would a 14 leaf manage in terms of range?

I have a 151 LEAF, 24kWh version. At this time of the year I’m getting 130km from a tank (plus or minus 10km depending on how I drive it). Winter weather has an effect on range, so it goes down to about 100km, again plus or minus 10km.

The main impact on range is your driving style, as no matter what the weather is like, if you push it hard, then the consumption goes up. Just like in a normal car!

Fluence EV can be had for 5k in the UK

Similar range to Leaf with its slightly smaller 22kWh battery

Vauxhaul Ampera worth a look too, about 60km range and has a strong 140bhp petrol engine for the long trips

About 10k in UK for 4-5 year old ones

Outside your budget but great deals to be had on a Kia Optima phev, bout 40km range and big petrol engine for long trips, 16k sterling for 1 year old with 6 year Kia warranty

    They are a bargain

Just to slightly add to this, the fluence would have a similar range to an older first generation leaf with some battery loss. We have 2 fluences in work since new in 2012 and at full charge I have never ever seen them anywhere near 100km in projected range. Usually around 87km. And then, when you get out onto the road it drops rapidly, even more so than the Nissan GOM.
