I've a 2016 Mondeo 2.0l diesel. I like it, but think I'd like to change it for a petrol at some stage over the next year or so. I know that the Mondeo is available in the UK and Europe in a 150 bhp 1.5l petrol, but wondering if Ford will ever sell that here? Starting to look like they won't! All crossovers! Any alternatives in a well spec'ed saloon? The Arteon looks nice, but a bit more expensive than the Mondeo. There's always the Passat, but I find it hard to get excited about those.

Diesel is still the king in that segment here. I think they offer a petrol hybrid Mondeo here now but not sure what price they are or spec on offer. Toyota are launching a petrol hybrid Camry at the end of they year to replace the Avensis if that's your thing.

The Mondeo HEV has been brought in. Two models.

Might be better to give some idea of driving requirements, budgets etc......

Passat has a hybrid as well......

50k for the Passat GTE :o

Afla Romeo Giulia comes in a couple of Petrols, as does Mazda 6 and Jaguar XE.

No mention by OP of budget.

Loads of cars come in petrol.....

If looking at petrol then best to look at hybrid and then even better PHEV

Of course petrol/hybrid/PHEV does not suit all requirements....

Best to figure out best fuel first and work from there....

The mondeo 1.5 petrol is available in the uk 165 bhp- £21k

Surely an Irish dealer could source one

Kia Optima is hybrid in uk

The Kia Niro PHEV looks a decent option as well and sold in Ireland

    Would be a Vauxhall though.

Thanks all. Food for thought. Budget is max 40k (the price of a Titanium Mondeo with some extras).

Mazda petrol is only available in the basic model. When I looked at those in 2016, they couldn't even find a petrol one for me to test drive.

The hybrid Mondeo is not supposed to be great.

I do like the Passat, but I love the Arteon. It stretches the budget though.

Camry might be nice as is the Opel - as long as its more reliable than its diesel counterpart.

    Thanks again.

The all new Volvo S60 will be petrol only when it goes on sale later this year. Not sure what spec 40k will get you though.

    .

    Thanks again.

    Mondeo Vignale hybrid

    Retail €45,750,

    - Ford Discount €6,840 < apparently.
Friend of mine in the UK has a titanium hybrid and has zero complaints with it,
He gets decent mpg as well.

Titanium and Vignale are two different specs.

If anyone was in the market for a hybrid Mondeo they'd honestly want their head checked to spend almost 10k extra on the Vignale.

Vignale really stands out from the crowd and far superior to the titanium

Depends on Color to be honest.
Black Mondeo Vignale around here and it looks like something out of Halfords with all the chrome across the front :(

    It's not a 10K improvement though.

Price difference isn’t 10kaccording to the poster who mentioned the price though

Remember there are discounts on other Mondeo range as well, which could make the 10k difference again.

I don't think anyone is really paying 10k more for a new Vignale. Ford dealers were knocking thousands off the few they were made take into stock late last year. Would not be gone on the excessive bling chrome to set it apart from a regular Mondeo but here is a 2018 with demo mileage asking 35k:

I went to a ford dealer recently with my 2013 titanium to do a deal on the new shape, no discount at all to be had at kavanaghs in fermoy and then the fella offered me €5k trade in on my own one
He said the new shape are flying out the door.
I left fairly lively and won’t be returning anytime soon

I live in Fermoy and couldn't deal with Cavanaghs
I went with O'Briens in Mallow,

I know that - I was just informing that the hybrid comes in another spec level if op didn't want to stretch to vignale

    Some great reporting here!

You could buy new diesel Vignales straight for €32k last year.
