Summons Withdrawn

Hoping someone will be able to help, I was stopped last year for speeding, took the points that's grand, no problem there, i deserved them.

I was also asked to present NCT within 10 days as it was out by two days when stopped,(I had tested it but it failed on a minor issue), I couldn't get the test passed until the 11th day (waiting on parts), so presented on the 11th day, sure enough a summons came a while later.

I sent all the info, proof of NCT pass, proof of Insurance, license, proof I'd presented at my local station to the prosecuting Garda via email and providing a contact number, I got a call back from him to say he would withdraw and there was no need for me to travel to court(4 hour drive from home).

I didn't go to court and now I'm worried he didn't withdraw/have it struck out, how can I find out what happened, are those kind of court records published anywhere, will I get a letter to confirm the charge was withdrawn.

Check the local papers to the court.

And No. They will not send a letter.

Ring the court office and ask to speak to a staff member and ask what happened to your case.

For future reference, it is best to ensure that these things get struck out on the day, whether by personal attendance at court or by having a solicitor attend on your behalf.

Best to ring the District Court Clerk for that area. Details are probably on the summons.
This often happens with cases and the Guard uses his discretion rather than hammer you completely. You wouldnt get away in Britain like that

They are not published officially and the local newspaper is unlikely to report it as your case was pretty much run of the mill stuff.

As already advised, ring the relevant District Court office, have the summons to hand and give them the case number, they will tell you what happened.

If you were convicted (it happens, the Garda doesn't always check his notes), you will get a letter from the court telling you that you were fined and giving details of how to pay. They usually leave this until three week after the court so it's too late to lodge an appeal. If the case was dismissed, you will get no official notification.

Thanks to everyone for the replies, the court date was almost five weeks ago and i have heard nothing so I guessing it was withdrawn, will give the court office a call Monday to be sure.
