Hi there, wanting to apply for this scheme but have a quick question. I am a single person but have found a 2-bedroom apartment that supports HAPS. Can I apply for this or can I only apply for a 1-bedroom place?

Are you on the social housing list.? You have to be on the social housing list first and then you are invited ( By the council ) to apply for HAP.
The scheme is administered by the local authorities, who pay landlords directly. The rent being charged for the accommodation must be within the limits set down for the household type in that local authority’s area .

    More informantion here. http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/housing/renting_a_home/housing_assistance_payment.html

    and here. http://hap.ie/

So to answer your question it doesnt matter if it is a four bed mansion so long as it is within the limits set down for the household type.
For example Dublin city council will pay a max, of €660 per month ( for a single person ) and Cork City council max for a single adult is €550
