RTE player wont work on new Saorview Connect box

Hoping some kind soul can help.

I recently bought a new Saorview Connect box.

Whenever I try to play ANY video on RTE player it says The service is having issues. A problem occurred when trying to play this video

Initially I thought its my wifi so I went and bought home plugs and its now hooked up via ethernet and the box itself says signal excellent.

So now I've ruled out internet signal. Then I thought maybe an IP address issue so I tried watching RTE player via my laptop and it works.

So any ideas why I cant get RTE player to work on the Saorview Connect box?
It doesnt have record function so I was kinda relying on the RTE player meanwhile so we could watch some shows.

    Totally baffled :(

Hi - had the same problem and contacted saorview. Apparently known issue from RTE side (see posts about issues with tvs running in built rte player also ). I found complete power down of box i.e. unplug resolved the issue - annoying though !

Contact Saorview anyway - more people report issues the better..

Mine was working fine last night. Make sure you have the latest software downloaded. Go into settings and it is in there somewhere. Boxes just bought might not have the latest update on them.

I have had issues where it wouldn't work. The old fashioned power it off sometimes does the trick.

How are you finding the satellite section? Is it still 30 secs plus to switch between saorview and satellite.

Thanks Lenny! Yep I contacted Saorview and they've asked me for more info including IP address etc to pass on to manufacturer.

I tried unplugging everything and a factory re-set etc but no joy.

Cheers yeah it has all updates completed and I tried power-off too. It's a brand new box too, just wouldn't play the player right from the start.
It WILL play the TG4 player funny enough, just not the RTE player

It is a problem with the rte player then. I find it resolves itself sometimes. To be honest I haven't used the catchup that much. Very little on saorview worth watching anymore except live sport. The fact that the catchup is SD quality is a shambles at this stage.
