Huge Solar storm, something like The Carrington Event of 1859 but more severe. A huge geomagnectic storm that will wipe out all electronic communications and power grids and blast the earth with huge amounts of radiation. Once the power grids go, then all the nuclear power plants will go into meltdown because no power to run them. Double blast of radiation exposure, natural and artificial. No internet so everybody looses their minds to go with it. Fire from the sky. Something like that will do it.

1) Climate Change: Record highs set across the world in the last few weeks. Climate change effects advancing faster than scientists predicted. We're basically fúcked no matter what changes are implemented now; too little, too late. Within our lifetimes, cities and regions which are currently bustling with people will become uninhabitable. This will obviously have huge mortality and migration effects. Picture a few more centuries of this and a world-wide spread, this planet is just going to become too hot for us humans.

2) Antibiotic resistance: Yep, it's apparently the new great threat facing our species. According to the World Health Organisation - "A growing list of infections – such as pneumonia, tuberculosis, blood poisoning, gonorrhoea, and foodborne diseases – are becoming harder, and sometimes impossible, to treat as antibiotics become less effective."

If one of these few powerful political idiots don't roast the other 6 billion of us with nukes, it will very likely be one of the above which ends us.

Sun isn't due to start expanding for another 5 billion years so either human civilization will be long gone by then or we have colonized most of the galaxy to such a degree it won't matter what happens in this tiny corner of the universe

I think because the massive imminent timebomb isn't ticking as loudly here as in other parts of the world.
Given, there's immigration from poor countries but before sh1t hits the fan here I wouldn't be surprised to see a genocide-like cleansing in India, Pakistan or Africa. Especially China has a lot of vested interest in Africa, there's no way they'll let the population expand the way it currently does and I don't find it unlikely that there will be similar governments established in African countries that are already in place in parts of Asia.
Yes there'll be problems that come with overpopulation in Europe too but nowhere near as awful as it will be shortly in the mentioned parts of the world.

My bets go on a supervirus in a few hundred years time that will wipe out any valuable genetic material and the clock will be moved back to 0.

Some mad virus will probably be the end of human civilization as we know it. If it wiped out 50% of the population, civilization would fall apart. But it wouldn't be the end of human civilization. People would just rebuild.

If it doesn't happen in the next 500 years, I'd say the destruction of the planet won't even end human civilization. Humans will either move into space or colonize other planets/moons etc.

Hard to totally get rid of humans.
