Need help with fuel injector

    Hi there,

I drive a 2010 turbo diesel polo which rejected ground to a halt on the motorway. The car was then towed to a garage where I was informed that a new fuel injector was required. This was done.

A few weeks later I noticed that the engine was vigorously shaking while in neutral, rather loud when driving and that there was a rattle in low gear when accelerating. I broke the car to another garage who put it on the diagnostics computer which said I needed the same fuel injector replaced as it was faulty. As I was quite far from my initial mechanic the work was then done again twice.

I have been trying to organise a refund from the initial garage however they said they got a report done on the part and it came back fine. I have two concerns with the report: (1) it refers to fuel injector 4 when it was number 1 that was replaced - does this matter? and (2)I do not see the ditex number the report refers to on the part.

Can anyone tell me what type / brand of fuel injector the attached is and what the ditex number is? Is this the same of the serial number?

Any help would be very much appreciated as I have now paid over the odds twice and really dont trust the first guy.

    Many thanks in advance :)

    Hi there,

Does anyone know if these results show that the fuel injector was working properly?

Hi..at work we have had problems with a vw passat 1.6 TDI. It's actually the built in electronic solenoid that gives problems.. sometimes they fail completed and this is ok. But we had the first injector problem that was intermittent and after clearing faults with diagnostics the car was fine for a few weeks then gave trouble again.. all the modern common rail diesel injectors are now classed as a serviceable item. So it's not uncommon with either high mileage or age to actually need replacing and they need to be re coded. To the car's ecu.. there costly but I certainly found the best thing is to replace with a new injector. And there usually around 750/800 for each injector..
    Hope all works out

    Thanks very much for that!

I have now had the fuel injector replaced twice already at some serious cost. The car has been booked into another garage today who are saying that the car is only running on one cylinder (whatever that means!) and that it is sluggish....

I just want it fixed at this stage :(

Hi again. It's impossible for a diesel car to run let alone drive with only 1 cylinder operating..also this would mean that the 3 other injectors would have failed which is almost impossible.. you have already said that the first garage replaced 1 injector.. and after a few weeks it's now only running on 1 cylinder..
It's not a good idea taking your car to different garages as it's all too easy for them to blame the previous garage &the repairs /parts that they provided..
You need to get proper diagnostics carried out to determine the exact cause of the engine not running properly And also any half decent garage would check the diesel for contamination.. water. Sludge etc from diesel tank up. And would replace fuel filter. It's very easy to stick in a new injector and lighten a customers wallet but a repair actually needs to rectify the vehicle not last a few weeks .. get proper mechanic to check what's at fault.& moreover what has caused this fault. If it's dirty diesel which is common then splashing out on even a full set of 4 injectors won't rectify the problem.. (that's 4 if it's the 1.6 TDI. There are smaller engines also on those polos..
Best of luck.. vw diesels are usually very good
