With the recent hot spell that we have had my car is peppered with baked on bug squash on the front .
Any recommendations for a non aggressive bug removal product to soften down the residue before washing .
In my washing sequence I use bilt hamber autofoam applied with a foam lance followed by autowash by tbm.
Washed the car yesterday in the rain and foamed it a couple of times to try and soften it down but did,nt find it that effective , used some all propose cleaner in the end which seemed to help but this has probably stripped off my wax protection which I don't mind on this occasion as it needs to be redone anyway .

My usual product is a bucket of water, microfibers, a pot of tea and a sandwich. The procedure is,

    1. Soak the microfibers in the water and spread on the car covering the bugs.
    2. Drink a cup of tea and eat the sandwich.
    3. Check that the microfibers are still wet. If not, re-soak them in the water.
    4. Finish the pot of tea (Hob-nob is optional)
    5. Wash the car.

I leave a few wet microfibers soaking over the bugs for 20 minutes or half an hour. They have usually softened down then enough to be washed off easily. If not, it's another pot of tea.

Sure a pot of tea solves everything......

Edit. Poorboy's Bird Sh!t remover works as well, but that'll strip back any wax you have on.

Thanks for that .I see that a few detailing product companies sell bug removal products alright.
Anyone have first hand experience of using any of them though?

My brother swears by Autoglym Interior Shampoo....yes Interior. Now I've never used it myself but he works in a Motor Factors and sells to detailers and they seem to swear by it.

Not overly great to be honest, a good safe prewash does the job better

Suppose its just a fancy apc after all , I soaked the area in apc myself before washing and it seemed to help but just wondering if there is a more dedicated product that works well and does,nt strip the lsp.
