Retrofitted oil temp gauge removal?

    Hi all,

I'm rubbish with electrics so I'm looking for a bit of advice.
I have a retrofitted oil temp gauge fitted to my E34. One of those ones you normally see on 90's Jap cars.
It works perfectly but I want to remove it for no other reason than I just dont like it.
Is it likely to cause problems if simply cut the wires to remove?
    thanks

cut the wires and put insulators on the cut ends to prevent them shorting against anything.
