Ire vs UK income tax

    Hello,
Currently self employed contractor, living in the Republic and have being offered a contract with a UK Co. with payment in Euro or GBP. I have a UK self assessment and bank a/c already set up. The UK tax credit is higher than the revenue.ie by around 10000.
When I qualify for a tax refund in the UK, as I will only be there working a few months there, will I be subject to offset the balance to Revenue?, ie. the refund I receive back from HMRC as I will remain domicile here in the Republic. I am aware of Trans-border Workers Relief and not being double taxed but as I would be entitled to a refund from HMRC will Revenue lay claim to it?
    Thanks.

You live in Ireland so you pay Irish tax. Why even register in uk, you shouldn't be dealing with hmrc at all?

So Yes Irish Revenue will claim everything, and maybe interest and penalties.

Going on a few business trips to the UK does not mean you should pay tax there. If you were spending 6 months+ there then maybe things get more complicated. Discuss this with your accountant!

    Penalty for what?
Either you misread the question or you do not know what you are talking about.
