This competition closed end of May and interviews are ongoing.

Just wondering if anyone had done the interview? How did you find it?

How did everyone do? Does anyone have any idea how many have panelled?

Delighted to say I got through the Audit panel. No idea of numbers yet. How did you fare yourself Mrspepperpot?

I got through also, on the a&c-
My email said placed on the following panels and then listed the a&c placing only. I wonder/wondered if the second panel placing was omitted in error because the plural reference in the email suggests more than one placing....was yours the same? Did you hear of anyone else or of the total numbers placed?

    Hi pepper pot,

I was included on both panels and given a difference place on each panel on the one email.

Does anyone know the timeline for offers or even the amount on each panel?

57 Candidates were panelled for the Audit and Compliance Panel and 35 Candidates were Panelled for the Tax Policy & Legislation panel.

Heard people were offered a job in Kilkenny the last week. Anyone confirm or deny?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 204 ✭✭nazzy

I checked two weeks ago and I had moved 1 place (audit panel) so it did move slightly!

But I haven't checked since. Hope it's moving!

Where are you on panel and where are you looking to go to. Location wise

Has anyone heard of anymore offers? Or the locations?

This thread is very quiet. Does anyone know what areas have been offered so far?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 Ms. Riverside

    Hi Pepperpot,

Do you know if the panel has moved by many places? I’ll

Tax Specialist with people on panel who are neither one of the two main accounting bodies or CTA.

    That makes sense.

Think the audit compliance panel is up to 25/26 ish with offers being made for Dublin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 75 ✭✭mrspepperpot

Thanks publicben. Do you have any idea what regional locations, if any, have been offered?

Haven’t heard of any regional offers apart from Wexford months ago. Also heard that an internal AP competition was announced on Friday for Waterford.

The last person I heard of was in Dublin. Was either 25 or 26 on the Audit compliance panel.

Thanks publicben. The word on the ground is that everything is on hold awaiting the Brexit outcome next month?

I heard today through the Union that there will be another Tax Specialist Open Competition in the coming weeks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 75 ✭✭mrspepperpot

Thanks For the update Nazzy, preparing for when ours expires I presume. Have you heard of any offers being made lately?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 204 ✭✭nazzy

I haven't Mrspepperpot, not a peep. I requested an update a couple of weeks ago and heard nothing so just emailed again. I did tell them though that I was only interested in one location so I don't think they'd ring with any offers so hopefully it's still moving!

By my estimations, this panel has had 5 or more appointments since early January. I've moved 20 places in all since it was formed.

I hope these panels move along. I am in top five for regional area on one panel and farther down on the other panel.

A lot of work goes into getting on a panel. I’m not sure what date panels are expiring (July/ August this year?) but I hope I secure a role before then.

    Best of luck everyone!

Hi Country living. Here’s hoping it moves. Do you mind me asking how you know you are top 5 for your regional area? Have CSD started drawing regional preferences?

I never had Dublin as my preference.

Tax Policy panel is up to 26 (at least) in Dublin.

First time applying for the 2019 competition. How did those who went through the interview process find things last year? Thanks

Last year we were shortlisted on a full competency form. This year it seems different. It was quick last year, shortlisting and then one interview

I was 42 overall, up to 9th for dublin only two weeks. Was 6th on policy panel two weeks ago for Dublin. Got it from policy panel. I presume that means all of us that policy panel this week will be off the audit panel

That’s great that you got it PublicBen. Fingers crossed it will continue to move. Are you being placed in a policy/rls type position

Wasnt told yet where I’m going. I’m off on leave and was shouting at two kids to stop fighting when I got the call. She said she’d send me an email with details etc.

Anyone know how look it takes to hear back on whether you're successful for the next stage or not?

I checked last year and it was about 3 weeks. But then, that was full forms to review so it may have been a slower process.

I agree. I dont see how they can do much, if any, shortlisting on this year's forms. My guess is that we will hear something next week about stage 2

I’m thinking an aptitude test maybe on the cards! Very hard short list by a candidates 500 word piece

Basing it on the email referring to being in touch with further information, I think information specific to the next step is forthcoming and I’m inclined to think it will be a full form.

I agree. I remember the short listing last year was fairly ruthless. People not meeting the basic criteria that they set, namely having at least 3 years at HEO or equivalent experience in private sector. I kinda got the feeling anyone at EO level may not get opportunity for interview. That's the impression I got anyway.

I think they'll be looking for the 300 words to hit each competency mentioned in the traditional form.

But if numbers are big, aptitude tests may come into play. I just dont know though if the numbers would be that big? Maybe 250-300 applicants? Culled to 120 for interview.

Im an EO currently sitting on AO panel! I just threw my name in with no big expectations.. i have outside experience too! I do kno EOs that have gone straight to AP .. so i suppose it depends on experience and form

They definitely have! I just found with last year's process that there was a requirement for 3 years management experience at HEO level or something equivalent. All down to experience for sure and how management skills were portrayed on the form. Basically, it's down to how well you sell yourself and making sure that you do yourself justice.

    Best of luck with it!

Well, that's a very short amount of time that we have to complete stage this stage of the process...
