Hi Can anyone give me an idea of how long it should take for garda clearance to be completed? I was offered a council house and in May i was told they had sent off for my garda clearance. To date the council say they still havent received my garda clearance. I have phoned Thurles garda vetting and they informed me the turn around is 7 days. I am not sure if it would be Thurles that it would be sent to or if it would be done locally. Any info on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Most often what happens is that the vetting is indeed turned around in 7 or sometimes less, days.
The person responsible for this at the county council office is out sick/on holidays/maternity leave/parental leave/career break/compassionate leave/Carers leave and no one else is seeing to their work.
If you ring the the County Council they will tell you that it’s just not back yet.
    That’s just lies.

thank you for your input. I would tend to agree with you as that is how it seems. Landlord now putting pressure on us as he has new tenants waiting to move in. Our notice is up and council telling us to just tell landlord nothing we can do he will have to wait. any ideas on how to speed this up? so frustrating. Id rather stay put at this stage its gotten so messy.
