Bringing new pup back from England / Wales

Hi all,

At some stage in the near enough future I’ll be picking up a new pup from a breeder in England or Wales and will be bringing her back to Dublin.

I’m completely green when it comes to rules and regulations around this so can anyone advise what I’ll need to do to have it all above board?

I’ve heard there’s a pet passport but if I’m only picking the pup up abroad I don’t think I can register her for a passport in advance can I??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

The breeder will need to sort the passport and get the required rabies vaccination. Pups can't have that vaccination until at least 12 weeks old and can't then travel for at least 21 days.

If the breeder exports to Europe then they should know the procedure. Technically, as the pup is changing owners, it is classed as commercial and health checks etc are also needed. If you make sure that the breeder puts the passport etc in your name, you should be fine
