    Hi folks,

    Looking for some recommendations to help out my father on a new mid size saloon purchase. Currently drives a 1.6 08 Mondeo.

    Style: Saloon
    Year: 141 reg onwards
    Wants: Reliable and economical
    Mileage: Completes a 100km motorway trip (50km each way) 3 times a week
    Engine: No preference to petrol or diesel
    Budget: 13k + trade in for 08 Mondeo (quoted between 1.8k - 2.8k)

    Currently have test driven 1.6 diesel Passat (loved), 1.6 petrol Corolla (liked), 1.6 diesel Renault Fluence (not gone on it). Others that are on the list are the new Mondeo (definitely has his eye turned on this), Mazda 3/6, Octavia.

    Getting loads on conflicting opinions from dealers on petrol vs diesel - some saying he doesn't do enough mileage, others saying he is.

    Any opinions or recommendations?
