Evening. Have a focus 1.6 tdci 2010. Just noticed that my key was hot to touch after a 10 minute drive. Barrel is also hot.

    Any ideas?

Loose connection, high resistance means heat is generated, remove ignition switch and check for signs of corrosion and heat damage.

Sounds probable. I'd be hesitant to use it in this condition, it could be a fire hazard.

Rang a local Ford dealer and he never heard of it. Has not happened since so hopefully it was a build up of heat after been parked in sun all day! Also dorve Tipperary/Dublin last night and no heat whatsoever. If it returns will report back.thanks for replies
