Just in getting a Tyre replaced on my cc... Which has been wearing on the inside pretty badly. Was speaking to the fitter about what was causing it and he was saying it was a common complaint with Passats after 05.
I'm just wondering has anyone else heard this before?

Get your wheel alignment checked and also give the front suspension a check over for wear.

Had a similar issue. Got tyres replaced and within a couple of weeks I have a vibration in the steering when I hit 120/130kmh.

I'm told it's balance/ tracking so booked for that. I was told the cc are known for this, and they go through tyres relatively quickly ?

A vibration in the steering wheel at certain speed indicates that the wheels are not balanced correctly but this would not cause uneven tyre wear.

Uneven tyre wear is usually caused by either incorrect wheel alignment, under/over inflation or possibly worn suspension component.

If it's the inside of the front tyres wearing it's often the lower front wishbone rearmost bushes are worn on those, it's fairly common.

I was going to suggest bushings or ball joint as well.
To be fair it shouldnt make any difference if it were a Passat or a CC
Literally the same car so one shouldn't be any worse than the other.

Rears should be tracked on those also. Most places don't bother and just track the front (Sher it will be grand type places)

He did say it was irrelevant whether it was a cc or a normal Passat.
I had intended in getting the tracking done but he pretty much talked me out of it.
The car drives normal but it it pretty worrying to see that amount of wear on the inside of the tyre..I wouldn't have seen it only I went looking..
It was the back passenger for the record.

Any tyre guy that knows his stuff and sees a car with tyres wearing like that, turns and advise the owner not to bother.!!
I would walk away and find another tyre fitter.
Definitley get a four wheel allignment done after checking bushing etc. wear.
