    Hi, hope this is ok...

Thinking of swapping my car. I was wondering what it would be worth?

141 Ford Galaxy 2.0Ltr Titanium Automatic. 50k miles on clock
    It was UK import...

Decent spec. Bluetooth, full air con(back seats as well), CD player, alloys, voice activated controls, cruise control, full service history, just serviced 2 months ago

Not sure what else would make difference?

    Petrol or diesel?
    Colour?

Here is a similar one on Donedeal from a dealer at €19K

Which would be.. how can anyone tell you if the swap you're doing is a good one if you aren't saying what the potential swap option may be?

What difference does it make for the valuation?!

Is it a swap or a trade in?

Think he means he wants to change his car and what’s it worth as opposed to a swap with cash difference.was going to throw a figure on it but with the saucy attitude as they say in dragons den I’m out

I am selling my current car privately....that is why I am asking for value to see what I should advertise at

They are just flirting with you.

Anyhow, if the car is worth €19K on a dealers forecourt, it is worth a bit less than that in a private sale.

The amount a dealer will offer you in a trade in will vary depending on what sort of car you are looking to buy, You'll get more off a brand new Galaxy from a Ford dealer than you will if you try and trade for a 20K new model, and in 2nd hand cars, it really depends on how the dealer is pricing his stock.

Don't forget that the dealers are in business - they have to make money on the trade. Swapping it for another 19K car does not make them any profit.

Not so easy to sell a car at that price for cash - you offer no warranty, no comeback at all if it turns out to be a dog. You'll have to go lower than the dealers price.

    Maybe try at €17K?

There's a sticky thread at the top here about how to sell a used car - lots of good advice in there about ads, bargaining etc.

    Apologies I misunderstood.
I thought you were asking what's your car worth when it comes to a straight swap not that you'd sell privately and asking for a valuation.

So it's not a swop or a trade in but a straight sale.

NCT it if it's coming up and valet it. Then take some good pics and try your luck at 17.5k.
Be prepared for a bit of horse trading and a lot of time wasters.

As above look at the sticky.

A nice clean one of those will sell to a family but with holidays and all it's a bad time.

Thousands of a difference to be honest.
Selling it privately you will have to.take a big drop from price a dealer charges, if you can sell it privately at all.
I wouldn't buy a 141 privately, it's about as expensive a car can be with little or no warranty.
Trade it to a ford dealer they will offer you x against another ford because they might be able to retail it or have a buyer lined up.
Trade it to a non Ford dealer they will offer you y against a non Ford because they may have to send it to the trade
Sell it privately and you will get offered z if you get any offers at all

So it makes a difference. People here are generally helpful and can guide you correctly but details do make a big difference.

Yes - that is the original question. "How much can I sell if for?"

Not "How much are the dealers selling similar for" or "How much would a dealer offer me in a convoluted trade-in deal".
I wouldn't buy a 141 privately, it's about as expensive a car can be with little or no warranty.

What difference does it make for the OP? Your personal preference is completely irrelevant.

Selling privately has its price - you cannot expect to get as much as a dealer is getting. But that's what OP wants to know - how much premium the buyer would expect when buying privately.
Trade it to a ford dealer they will offer you x against another ford because they might be able to retail it or have a buyer lined up.
Trade it to a non Ford dealer they will offer you y against a non Ford because they may have to send it to the trade

    What a pile of crap.

A car is worth as much cash as you can get for it. When you are trading it in, you are not selling it - the numbers the dealer give you are not an indication of how much the car is worth - they are design to make you feel you are making a good deal, nothing else.
So it makes a difference. People here are generally helpful and can guide you correctly but details do make a big difference.

    Let's agree to disagree.

You can try trading it in for another car at a dealer's
They will give you an estimate for your car
