Is it a Duster by any chance? They were recalled for waxoil in 2016

Always see those stickers in the engine bays of Renault and Dacia. At least you know the OTS was done

Waxoil is an underbody protection/rust proofing type thing.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tetroseal-Waxoil-Rustproof-Coating-TWO006/dp/B008CE6712

Should be redone every few years ideally.

(least that is what I think you're asking?)

So basically it was a rust proof wax done on it if im right ? Where abouts would it have been done what part of the car ?

OTS stands for Special Technical Operation, but in French :pac:. In Renault world, an OTS is basically a fix for a problem that they are aware of that doesn't justify a flat out recall. Any time your car visits a Renault dealer they will check the chassis number for open OTS issues and carry them out when the car is in. The sticker is just there to verify to the technician on any future visits that that particular OTS has been done.

OC9V is the reference number for the specific task carried out. I'd assume it's some preventative measure related to the rust issues some Dusters were having in this case.

I don't really know what it is myself to be honest but id assume it can't be rusty cause it only passed the test in January until 2020

Ohh seems to make sense I had a look under it and it don't seem to rusty may be just was still recalled and waxed due to the fact that some models where rusting as a precaution

Been a good while since we do one but I think it was inside the doors

Yeah, that's the purpose of an OTS. It's when they are aware the certain models may have certain issues, so they address them or prevent them where necessary when the car is visiting the workshop for a service etc.

First generation Dusters built in India had poor to no rustproofing. They were being 'field fixed' with this stuff. Production was moved to Romania and better rustproofing was incorporated.

Do you know what areas where rusting ? I can't seem to find rust anywhere really to be honest

The traditional waxoyl cavity protection agent is sprayed pretty much anywhere where the car can potentially rust from inside out. The weather we have had this summer is great for any cavity protection as the stuff melts in the heat and then flows in places like seams of the doors etc. where there are two or more layers of sheet metal overlapping. Once the usually tiny voids get saturated with the sealing agent water can't settle there.

Many makers like Ford and Mercedes had major rust issues around the turn of the century where new manufacturing methods and environmentally friedly sealants and paints caused issues. Many early 2000's Mercedes' were suffering from the seam sealant peeling off after a few years of use and the water then got in and eventually the metal rusted through and bubbles of water began to surface on a previously pristine looking panel. Most of the cars got new doors under warranty, some when the cars were only a few months old. I suspect that the Indian made Dusters suffer from something similar and Dacia is attempting to mask the issue with waxoyl which, if taken care of early enough, will most likely be enough to prevent the issue getting out of hand.

It's a 2014 duster and was called for the wax In December 2016 so I don't think could have anything gone wrong by then maybe was just precaution

Would be very unlikely unless you'd have used it for things like launching boats.

Definitely sounds like a precaution, i.e. they found that some of the cars were having issues with rust protection and decided to do the right thing and prevent it becoming an issue for the customers.

There was also one other thing I forgot the mention when im at a stand still and e get first gear I can hear the clutch engage sort of sounds like it's clashing with the fly wheel and does it in reverse aswell it don't make any awful sounds or anything you can just feel the thump when it's entering gear is this a normal thing never really had it in previous cars before it's drives great other than that. There's 85 thousand km on it

Most of the boxes make some noise when you engage the gear as when you press the clutch pedal the input shaft of the gearbox and the clutch pressure plate continue to rotate for a while and the synchros take a fraction of a second to stop the movement before they slot in the gear.

Next time stay on the clutch for 5-10 seconds and only then engage the 1st/reverse to see if my remote diagnosis was correct. In the older up to 80-90's gearbox designs you got a huge grinding noise going to reverse without waiting for a few seconds as R was not synchronised at all. The Duster gearbox might be sturdier than average so the rotating masses maybe bigger than in your old car and you therefore notice it.

So don't worry, just drive the thing ;-)
