    Hi folks probably been asked before,but is there a good source of protein that i can take to help put on a bit of lean muscle?dont want to be on a cocktail of stuff,im doing the work,i still need to loose a few pounds of fat, so dont want anything that Will put fat on me,would like to look good in a t shirt in about 6 + months if possible,not after a quick fix,just something to help,thanks,oh im 40,5ft8,just under 12 stone

    Chicken, Tuna etc. would be good sources. but if you eat more than you burn calorie wise you will put on fat, even if the food you are eating is protein.

    Putting on lean muscle consists of two things - you need to actually build the muscle which requires being in a calorie surplus (i.e. taking in a few hundred extra calories per day above what your body requires) and combining this with resistance training (i.e. progressive weightlifting).
    After doing that for a while, you will have gained some lean muscle but also some fat, it's unavoidable. To reveal the lean muscle, you need to cut the fat by being in a calorie deficit (i.e. taking in a few hundred calories per day below what your body requires).
    Work out your TDEE using any online calorie calculator, download myfitnesspal and track everything you consume. Get on a weightlifting program also.


    Doesn't matter what protein you take in, your body doesn't necessarily know or care - meat, chicken, fish, egg whites, powder, it's all the one. Aim for about 1g protein per pound of body weight each day so for you would be about 170g protein.
