Photo/Video Editing PC Build [€1800]

Hello,
To start I want to say a big thank you to you guys in this forum (specifically BloodBath). You put together a gaming PC for me in 2013 and it’s still a beast.
I was hoping someone could help me out with another build, its specifically for photography and video. Please see below.

1. What is your budget? [€1800]

2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? [Photo/video editing (photoshop, premier pro etc)]

3. Do you need a copy of Windows? [Yes]

4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? [No]

5. Do you need a monitor? [Yes]

5a. If yes, what size do you need. [27" with at least 1440 resolution and specifically for photography]

6. Do you need any of these peripherals? [Keyboard/Mouse/Speakers/5TB hard drive space/card reader/DVD RW/]

7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [No]

8. How can you pay? [Bank Transfer/Credit Card/Laser or Paypal]

9. When are you purchasing? [In the next week or so]

How big are your projects and what kinda footage? Might be a case for 32GB if you're on the more serious end.

Hi Guys,

Thanks a million for your replies. The build by Kiki above is really a gaming build. The graphics card is great, but may be a little over the top? I dont think there is any need for a 144Hz monitor for photo editing. Ive changed some components, mouse/keyboard/speakers, and added in thermal compound.

Although there are some bits missing from the build such as, RW-DVD, card reader and Windows OS. When I tried to add a DVD drive part picker said there were none compatible. Also, is there a need to add and case fans? And how many cables would I need? And what type of cables (sata/esata)?

I've taken the monitor out of the build as I can't see any decent photo editing monitors on that website. Could you recommend a decent 27" monitor for photo editing?

I think the 16GB of RAM will be adequate for the moment,

GPU = playback acceleration only. Its a small task. Grab and old mid tier card and use that, no need to spend more.

Wasn't even thinking of the gaming part of that monitor; I put that in because it's a well-specced panel.

Also just realised you wanted a DVD-RW bay.

Go for a Cooler Master MasterBox MB600L, Fractal Design Focus G or Corsair Spec-01

Thanks a mill Kiki for thinking of the tower with the DVD bay (I didn't clock it).

I'm considering going for the Dell P2715Q for a monitor, similar spec to the one you recommended but I don't want curved. Would you agree?

The Dell is a far better choice for that workload, its aimed at that market segment (well, the low end - pro video guys use reallllly expensive monitors).

If you got the 2715 and then maybe add a Spyder to the mix you'd have an accurate as 99% of users need setup.

Other photogs may have one so its something you can borrow and use for five minutes then save the config in case you need it again.

Hi Guys,

Thank you very much for all the help, it was much appreciated! Im just running through installing OS atm.

Although, the recommended aftermarket cooler for the cpu did not fit on the MB, i.e. there was no space around the cpu to mount the brackets, so stock cooler it is.
Would there be any benefit to ordering another cooler that would fit, on i7-8700, B360-A pro MB?

Ahhh!!

I feel silly now, I thought it those support bars must sit directly on the MB. But there must be spacers. There were caps in both directions that would have blocked lying it direct. I'll try this, thank you very much!!
