I've been reading more about Myanmar in the news recently and just can't believe she was viewed as a sort of Mandela knowing now that she is just a shlte person.

Who else has been lauded before showing their true colours?

Had her in the title but didn't want to name two women so took her out. What a horrible person she was.

Crazy to think we were told for years she was a good person with celebrities endorsing her release etc... I assume almost all have now distanced themselves from her?

Adol Hitler, from a Corporal in WW1 blinded by gas to (arguably) the most powerful man on Earth to biting on a cyanide capsule and putting one in the side of his head with Eva Braun just taking the poison.

need a bit of balance there.
Nelson Mandela was sentenced for organising 23 car bombs, When he was in power he sold south african gold reserves at an all time low. Since then South Africa has reverted from nuclear energy back to coal, education standards have plummeted. ie South Africa is going down the pan for the last 20 odd years.

Aung Suu Kyi how ever is defending here people from muslim insurgent. Big difference.

    Kevin Spacey.

    Harvey Weinstein.

    Gary Glitter.

Brad Renfro-yeah, before his overdose. Poor guy went from promising child actor to arrested every five minutes.

    Edward Furlong-same as above.

    Bill Cosby

Lance Armstrong-though the smell of suspicion was always on him.

Games related-but the company Maxis (a victim of Electronic Arts).

    Richard Nixon.

Anthony Weiner-cheating on his wife was one thing, exposing himself right next to his kid was a certain kind of sick.

Bill Cosby - not that much of an earth-tremor when he hit the ground outside America but at home he was the very embodiment of the decent upstanding dad of middle-class America (even though the Huxable house was surely only affordable to a multi-millionaire) and he was the black actor who seemed to be embraced by just about everyone before it was profitable to do so.

OJ Simpson is another of course in a sporting context.

She’s the same person, neither a saint nor evil.

How she’s viewed and which facts/storytelling are selected to present her to the public in very different lights just depends on the political agenda of those who are writing the stories and their current mood.

Same as Erdogan who used to be described as a lovely enlightened “progressive Islamist” when the agenda was to convince Europeans that Turkey should join the EU and is described as a ruthless dictator nowadays. Same guy, different agenda when looking at him.

Id rather not get into a discussion on defending ethnic cleansing, particularly one that some people are going to support just cause it's against muslims. I don't want anything to do with that kind of ****ed up thinking

Trying to turd polish horrific violence towards civilians really doesn’t lend credibility when you then turn around and try to lecture others on Islamic extremism.

If the Bangladeshi men would leave the Burmese women and children alone I am sure it will be fine. It is very hard to upset a buddhist (I know enough of them) but when you mess with their women and children you better be ready to reap the whirlwind.

Johnathan Ross presents a really good magic series with Penn and Teller that's up on Netflix. He's still one of the top chat show hosts in the UK, reckon only Graham Norton is in more high demand.

Like him or not he's still very much a household name.

    Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle.

A star of early cinema. He was falsely accused of being responsible for the death of a young actress at a party, despite exoneration his career never recovered.
    A tragic story really.
