Registering a business name on Jobseekers Allowance

    Hi all,

    I am currently a third level student and plan to do my final year starting in September. I am getting Jobseekers Allowance during the summer months and Back To Education Allowance once I return to college. Also, I am getting the fees only part of the SUSI grant. As this will be my final year, my aim is to set up a business. I plan to start this project now as I want to be set up for when I complete my course next year.

    I have a couple of questions regarding this if anyone can help me.

    1. Can registering a business with CRO affect a Social Welfare payment?
    2. Can registering a business with CRO affect a SUSI payment?
    3. Is it possible to apply for Back To Enterprise during the year while I am still in college and receiving BTEA?
    4. Does my time on BTEA contribute to the time frame needed to apply for Back To Enterprise?
