    Hi folks,
Am putting the X-Trail through the NCT today. It's the 7-seat variant, just checking if anyone's been through it recently with that car or its younger brother, the Qashqai+2. Did you leave the rearmost seats folded in the boot or pulled up for them to check the belts etc? An older thread would seem to suggest it doesn't matter, or they will just put an advisory on the cert.
I'm just looking for any relatively recent experience with such cars.
    Thanks,
    Yakuza

Put a Qashqai+2 through the NCT at the beginning of the year with the seats folded down.

Was never mentioned but I couldn't tell you if they checked them or not to be honest, boot was clear so they may have.

Place seat up and put seat belts into latches.

If the seats are down, they won't check them. If they're up, they will.

On my S-Max, I just pop the 3rd row seats up for them to be checked regardless. The boot needs to be empty for the NCT anyway, and it takes less than a minute to do.

Thanks folks, I've just cleared out the boot, I'll remove the tonneau cover and whip them up, might as well.

Curious about this, got caught out with this last year for our galaxy. Had them down and they failed it for this reason? Wasn't getting the cert as I had just come back from holidays and hadn't my driver's license. Anyhow I returned with licence and seats up, the next guy, inspected the seats again and past comment that it shouldn't have been pulled up due to these seats being down. Roll on this year and the very same outcome (though failed for another issue)

Have scanned the manual and there is nothing definitive. Tester this year mentioned if there is a belt it must be tested. Just curious who is right.

As far as I know they go by how many seats are on the logbook and check that that number of seats are present and that there are seat belts for each.

Why wouldn't you have it all ready?

They need clear access so no mess in the car and they don't have time to be putting seats up.

What I do is put seat belts into buckle on all seats except driver seat so it's all that little bit more easier.

We have a zafira. I've never had the fold down seats up for an NCT, and they've never commented on it.Possibly because the seat belts are fixed on the body of the car, rather than on the seat.

I brought my C Max in for two NCTs with the middle seat removed altogether (four seat config). Noted on cert that seat was missing but passed no prob. NCTd galaxy with rear seats down no issues.

No harm in them testing them. if they highlight a potential safety issue it’s in your interest to know about it.

For what it's worth, I had it tested with the extra seats up, as colm says, no harm to have them tested.
