Can anyone tell me why these were put in or if they were used once upon a time I believe the daily 51x uses one still but that wouldn't explain why they have them on both sides of the road as it only travels in one direction

Possibly a Nitelink or a School service?

They tend to only remove info and branding from old stops. There's another thread hear called "ghost stops" about them.

What part of the old nangor are you talking about as both the 51d and 68 use both sides of it between fonthill road junction (cherrywood) up as far as where it joins back onto the new nangor road.

I ment the side closest to clondalkin villiage with the Irish school and entrance to the mill shopping center I hadent realised the road on the cherrywoood side was also called the old Nangor road..... Bit silly considering you can't even go straight on at the junction which connects both parts of the road

To my knowledge, there are no active stops east of Fonthill Road. These are probably historic stops, no longer in use, that were used by the 68. If they are concreted-in, they are difficult to remove. Modern stops use a lockable socket, so they can be removed if necessary.

Between Fonthill Road and Cherrywood Crescent, the eastbound stops are used by the 51x & 68 and the westbound stops are used by the 51d.

Between Cherrywood Crescent and St. Cuthbert's Road, the eastbound stops are used by the 51x & 68 and the westbound stops are used by the 51d & 68.

    That wasn't always the case.
