Mothballing a L30: what should I be doing?

Okay, as previously discussed, need to go back to ICE to keep my job.

Am replacing the EV with an ICE on existing policy, about 70 euro extra.
Leaf will be uninsured as insuring it, without any NCB, would cost 1200 lids for personal use only and 8,000 personal kms/pa.

The real pain is that I cannot cancel that policy before the end of the first year without loosing all, or most of the premium as its a new policy.

Likewise it cannot be changed, i.e. if I sell the ICE and want to use my NCB on the EV, no can do.

So what should I do with the EV, drive it around the green very so often, keep it charged at 50%
    etc?
    Thanks as always

edit it will be out doors, but can heat it during the winter

If you can't keep it on the road, and don't know how long you will need the ICE for, I would suggest selling it.

Li-ion batteries have a shelf life, it can only degrade. Especially considering known issues with the L30...

Thanks: what time frame have you in mind for degrading?
My work contract expires end of Nov and it may not be renewed so I am looking at buying a 07 ICE for about 3,500 lids and tax it for 6 months.
I will also look at transferring EV to my partner and insure it in her name, from mid August.
So just scoping the options/risks/ etc now.
    Thanks again.

    Sell it IMO
Without regular use the batteries will degrade much quicker

What I mean is it's going to happen regardless if it's going to be used or not. I can't say whether these particular batteries will degrade faster not being used. Some owners are experiencing much more significant capacity loss with the L30 than other batteries, e.g. down to 85% SOH in 2 years.

My thinking is to sell it now while it's still good, unless you have definite plans on using it again soon-ish.

I think Nissan solved this with a software update:

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

need to go back to ICE to keep my job.

What driving requirements do you have after this change in your job?

I'd sell the L30 privately asap. The early L30s (from 2016) seem to hold their value reasonably well. Your car is a 2017 - I can see you getting a lot more money for it in a private sell than the Nissan dealer was offering you in a trade in for a L40

What driving requirements do you have after this change in your job?

Nenagh to Galway 4 times a month to meetings : 140 km each way via the motor way: 102 via bad roads, not good in winter
nenagh to Roscommon 2 times a month: 126 each way
Nenagh to Dublin 2 times a month: 170 each way to head office

I expect to be doing about 27/30k km per annum which would not be good for the value of the EV

The big unknown is if they renew my contract in November so don't want to crystallise the 15k cash loss on the EV now
