Merc E Class 2010 - what to look for?

    Hi Guys,

Looking at E Class Mercs for my father - budget €9k.

Only wants an E Class auto, leather; he does very low annual mileage (maybe 10k km/annum) would prefer petrol (but would take diesel) but doesn't want to be paying over 1k car tax either way.

Presume it's better to be looking to get into the newer model that came out in 09/10 but is there anything I need to be aware of in these cars?

Should I be looking at something in the UK - will there be any value at such a low price?

He has an 01 E Class in average condition - I've told him to expect no more than €500 in trade in / cash for it.

Was looking at this in Bill Griffin: https://www.carzone.ie/used-cars/mercedes-benz/e-class/used-2010-mercedes-benz-e-class-2-dublin-fpa-232085006088461

It seems fairly priced and would take a trade in.

Would love the opinions of the wise and knowledgeable on Motors on what to do and what to be wary of!

I'd try and sell the 01 car privately, it's practically worth nothing to a dealer and trading it only means you will loose the straight deal discount on the newer car.
As for that dealer, they turn over a lot of cars but most feedback is that their cars can be rough enough with little or no prepping for resale. Their reputation for after sales is pretty poor also. BTW that car is listed on other sites as having 155k miles not 96k miles. It's that price for a reason.
