I started a new job back in early January, provided all documentation of my last 5 years personal and work history including character references, job references, college certificates etc etc..
To this present day, the vetting process is still on going.
I was asked to provide proof that i was on "summer break - 02.06.2013 - 31.08.2013" with bank statements ? I didn't even have a bank account back then ? Even if i did have a bank account how would that prove i was on summer break ?
I was also asked to provide more proof i attended college as the college certificate from QQI did not cover this.

Im full time employed since January and even signed the contract so is this really necessary seen as im full time employed since January ?

Also forgot to add that my 6 month probation ended last month.

If part of the offer of employment included passing the vetting process, then unfortunately there's not a lot you can do other than fight your corner.
This was not mentioned to me at the interview, only when i got the actual job

What, if anything, does your employment contract say about providing such evidence? Have you asked any of your colleagues whether they were asked to provide similar documentation, i.e. is this the norm or are you being singled out for extra investigation?

Im still awaiting a physical copy of my contract, when I completed the interview we were sent a link to an online version of my contract and asked to accept, have emailed HR multiple times in regards to this and still awaiting for it to be sent out.
I spoke with another colleague and he stated that he was in the job for over a year and they were still asking him for documentation in regards to his vetting.

You've been working for six months without a contract and whilst undergoing vetting? What kind of shabby HR does this place have?

Working for 7 months, 6 month probation ended last month.
Ive emailed a couple of people in regards to my contract but still waiting for a physical copy, only seen a digital version of it 7 months ago.
Just seems a bit silly to be honest, full time employed the past 7 months yet im been asked to provide proof i was summer break from college back in 2013

You've passed probation and don't have a contract? Ludicrous.

    Thought so myself,

Assuming you started straight after the Christmas holidays in the first week of January then your probation only ends this week.

They're obliged to give you a contract within 2 months of starting the job. Outside of threatening HR over not being provided with your final contract of employment then I'm not really sure what you can do other than playing ball with them and their requests. The Company can get rid of you pretty easily in the first year if they wanted anyway, regardless of the probationary period.

Other than constantly harrass HR? Not really. Unless you want to escalate it with a union rep (if you have one). Ultimately your employer is violating both Irish and EU law for not giving your contract in written form.

Technically speaking, your previous employer from 2013 has no business keeping data about you for this long anyway. I wonder if this process is GDPR compliant.

There’s very little they can verify.

Also looking for information about summer jobs from 5 years ago seems a bit ludicrous.

It would also be quite normal to be on summer break from college from June to October. Are they trying to say that’s somehow odd?

In that case you have a contract. Why don't you print it out yourself if you want a hard copy? The legislation says you're entitled to be given a written statement of your Ts&Cs - it doesn't say it has to be hard copy.

In relation to the continued vetting, it seems odd that it's taking so long. However, as you're there less than a year I would just go along with it and give them the info they're looking for. If you don't, they can terminate your employment with little legal risk for them. Alternatively, if you're not happy to go along with the process you could always look for a new job.
