Used saloons for 5500 - 8000?

    Hey,

I am looking at buying my first saloon car. I can finally afford the insurance on one! I was looking at importing a BMW 320d 2012 from the UK they're about 7600€ I mainly like the look of the car I am not a big "badge" person I just want a saloon that looks nice and not clunky.

Do you guys have any ideas on any other makes & models that are sporty looking around that price point?

Also the BMW 320d I am looking at is about 130,000 miles on it. Would you guys recommend avoiding a car that's 6 years old with that amount of miles?

    Thanks,

    Daspendy

Rivals to the 3 series would be Audi A4, Volvo S40 and S60, Mercedes C Class, VW Passat CC, Lexus IS,

I assume you’ve factored VRT in on your figure?

You know about timing chain issues on the 3 series?

Consumer groups in the uk are really going after bmw after some very serious incidents don't get fooled by the looks and driving dynamics they will bankrupt you my advice is look elsewhere

It does sound like the OP's budget is scraping the entry level price point of these cars which is rarely a good thing as at that end of the market you usually deal in money bits, tired cars or cars with shady histories as well as sellers. The price of insurance could well indeed be the least of the OP's worries.

Bazz they are lovely cars and remember doing my homework on them and wot can go wrong with them and lo and behold it did have a good friend who's a bmw enthusisast and won't touch the modern ones still doesn't stop them selling they are very popular and not as unreliable as a mk4 golf i had once

    Hey,

I also like the look of the opel insignia. What do you guys think of that car?

The VRT is separate to my budget too.

    Thanks,

I'm driving them for a good few years now, they can be temperamental and expensive to fix especially as they get older but I haven't had any major headaches with mine thankfully.

Out of the frying pan and into the fire. :D What year Insignia are you looking at? I wouldn't touch anything before the facelift in 2014. Anything before that can be very troublesome. Personally I'd have a Mondeo over an Insignia, they are way more reliable and just as cheap in the UK.

Insignia for the love of god don't mechanic words not mine on the 3series topic friend has a 2012coupe one no real problem with it but it is lower miles and she loves it but others I know have spent few thousand on repairs Mondeo definitely better roll of the dice or maybe avensis
