    Hi All,
I am wondering about relocation by your employer. I am a HSE employee and have been asked to move eight times in the next four years around the country while my husband and child will be based in Dublin. This is a full time job with no extra pay or compensation except a 100 euro "moving fee" per relocation which cannot be claimed unless with a receipt e.g. for a moving van. Is this legal? Thanks.

Just FYI the places include Limerick, cork, Sligo, Galway, castlebar and Dublin.

    I would leave.

    Contact your union.

Have a word with your union. I think the relocation under Haddington and Croke Park 1 & 2 is 45km max.

As Fann Linn has stated the maximum you may be moved under the terms of the Public Service Agreements 2010-2016 (aka Croke Park and Haddington Road agreements) is generally a 45km limit as set by Croke Park I. You may be moved to positions within 45km of your current work address or home address, whichever is the shorter, with account also being taken of a reasonable daily commute.

See the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform Circular 08/2010 Section 4. See also the Redeployment Toolkit produced by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform giving more details on the procedures, it also outlines in Section B7 where the 45km radius can be extended in very limited circumstances.

Are you a NCHD? Such moves are commonplace among "junior doctors"

    Crazy. Are you permanent staff?
There’s no way management could enforce this if challenged on it.
    Go to your union tomorrow.

I’m in the building trade. Some of the lads move weekly.

Post history would indicate you're on the money.

GP training scheme? Surely you knew this when applying, you do your rotations in departments where positions are available.
