VRT rebate quote received

    Hi,

I'm considering exporting a car to the UK.

I've brought the car to the VRT / NCT Rebate Centre so they could review and examine the car.

I understand that you have 4 weeks to export the car from the day of the examination, however I only received the quote in the post 2 weeks ago, and my 4 weeks are now up.

I've exported a car in the past (4 years ago) and it was 8 weeks after the examination, and it wasn't a problem... however things might have changed since.

I now have a few potential buyers in the UK, so i'm going to bring the car over next week. Do you think I will be ok in terms of the rebate OR should I bring the car back again for another examination.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You need to ring the VRT centre. Only they can tell you for sure, in writing.

It's pretty clear in the legislation that it has to be exported within 30 days (or 28 days - I can't remember exactly now).

I wouldn't risk it and take it for another export examination.

Thanks all. I called the VRT office again and I had to re-book again.
