    Hello
I have just received my surveyors report for a house I have recently gone sale agreed on.
The surveyor found Fiberglass fitted as fire-proofing/blocking material on a party wall, in between the joists and the wall itself.
How much would it be to hire someone to replace these? Or could it be done by myself?
    Thanks

I'm sort of thinking this is in the wrong category.
But thanks for the help if you can.

    why does it need replacing?
is it a block party wall?

@sydthebeat - Below is what the survey said. The wall is a party wall between us and the neighbours - It looks like brick, not breeze-block.
Fiberglas insulation fitted as fire proofing / fire blocking, replace with fire proof grade material.

    thats not very descriptive

is the fibreglass plugging holes in the brick wall (must be a very old house)
or does it just exist between timbers and the wall?
does it exist on the top of the party wall under the roof covering?

Yeah it its sort of stuffed in between the wooden beams and the brick wall.
It doesn't look like it would be much use.
Is fireproof insulation needed between beams and a brick party wall?

Sounds to be it’s just stuffed in there to act as a service draft break to stop cold drafts travelling up behind insulated boards or similar and escaping into the bedrooms.

If there is a block party wall, then this is your fire break and no fiberglass is required in the first place.

Can you clarify exactly where this FG is located please?
    you mention joists

Did the surveyor lift the floors to look at the joists
or is it in the attic along the ceiling joist and the party wall
or is it along the wall between the roof rafter and the party wall?

Location and terminology is important, especially when the survey says It looks like brick, not breeze-block.
