BMW Approved Used

I'm buying used from a BMW dealership. They seem to have thorough checks, backed up with a warranty but would it be standard to still get the car checked independently? Cheers

Assume it's BWM approved used, so you get a 2 year warranty?

I bought that way a 2 year old f10 and no way would I bother getting it checked.

I'd only bother if you weren't buying from BMW, I wouldn't pay the premium of buying from a main BMW dealer but I'd take it to them to check it out, think it was about €150 for a full head to toe check the last time from them.

Thanks for the replies. It's got the two-year warranty and they are doing a service that changes anything due for a replace in the next 5000miles. Think I'll go without the indy check.

    Thanks again.

A dealer won't be quick to fix things that could become an issue in a few months and it's easier to get them fixed before they have your money. An inspection is required for all 2nd hand purchases unless you are an expect on cars, it's a tiny percentage of the total cost

I'd expect there is an inspection report buying from bmw if not i'd demand one.

The BMW used approved warranty is pretty comprehensive so if the car drives fine and hasn't any signs of abuse I wouldn't be too worried. BMW dealers are delighted to do warranty work.

The approved used warranty should be from BNW U.K. rather than the dealership. I would expect it to be honoured at a dealer in Ireland who would be happy to find as many warranty problems as necessary to get paid for.

The notion of a dealership carrying out a service in advance of it's CBS (condition based as per iDrive) I'd be wary of. The system doesn't allow for the charging of materials for the service if it's not within the timeframe or mileage specified. Thread carefully if this is being promised to you.

Regarding warranty, I'd zero hesitation in purchasing BMW AUC. Be aware though that in the fine print the warranty is a minimum of 12 months and not all are a guaranteed 24 months.

Say what? Is the AUC BMW 24 month warranty just that? Also think they are obligated to carry out any work due within the next 5000 miles so you dont have to bring the car back in a few months.

OP, buying from BMW means you really should not need any independent inspection. If there is an issue your have the 24 month warranty and that will cover almost everything.

What BMW are you looking at?
