Hi just wondering if this engine is really as bad or is it hyped up in relation to how bad it is. If you are seeing one for sale with 200k on it do you think time bomb or problems resolved?

    I wouldn't buy one. It's a relatively thirsty diesel. What's the point?

I can't say much about the specific question, but something else to keep in mind is that Subaru doesn't have a big foothold in Ireland, and it shows.

I had a 2010 Impreza Diesel for a year and it took Subaru 6 months and countless visits to the garage to fix the automatic air condition.

Apart from that it was a lovely car to drive. But I wouldn't buy a Subaru in Ireland, sadly (I'm from Switzerland, where Subarus are as common as pubs in Ireland).
