New Passat petrol TSI 1.4 DSG - only 125 hp?

Just checking the VW configurator, I note the Passat 1.4 TSI 1.4 DSG petrol is only available with 125 hp and not the 150 hp version available in the Audi A3, A4 and the Skoda Octavia. Does anyone know why VW doesn't offer the 150hp version?

I'd have thought 125 hp is a bit under-powered for a car the size of the Passat.

Might have something to do with emission tax/vrt brackets or the fact that there is a hybrid GTE with the 1.4 TSi 150bhp engine available too. The Superb is available in 150bhp if you want something that size.

But the 1.4 TSi engine is being phased out anyway across the VAG range and being replaced by the newer, cleaner and more efficient 1.5 TSi. I'd expect to see that appear in the facelifted Passat towards the end of this year or early 2019.

Having driven a 12mintb old VW recently it felt awfully “restricted” regarding power.
It was a newer version of my current Tiguan. I spoke to the salesman and he said it’s emissions adjustments.

    Was very disappointed
