Alright then I’ve got a good one for you as I was caught speeding about a month ago and I was just wondering if he doesn’t show you the speed on the hand held gun then could you contest it?? as one thing is that it was a blinding sun and about 3/4 people got caught in the space of about 10/15 min as they were so quick to tell me I was going over the speed limit that he didn’t even show me my speed as he just gave the gun to his colleague who proceeded to catch someone else while I was being told I got a speeding ticket.:-(

I do'nt think the speedgun with the recorded speed has to be shown to the offender. It would mean nothing anyway as the time is not shown on the gun. The recorded speed could have been from the previous offender(s).

I drove by a traffic corp car which had its boot open today, doing 130 on motorway would there have been a camera recording in there?

What happened before laser guns were common? Gard's word you were in excess of the limit. The gun just stops muppets contesting it.

No get out of jail free here OP.

Well I’m tryin to give some reference to why I was caught as if it wasn’t so sunny then I would have seen the bxxlxxix of a cop.. and I was in a bus lane as I’m a taxi driver.. so it’s not a clear cut as you are making it out to be.:-( I’m afraid

keep digging that hole .. by the virtue of not being able to see the guard standing on the side of the road you are admitting that the conditions were somewhat more dangerous than usual and you should have been driving to the conditions .. and the guard is a bo11ix for this?

    So, a ‘professional’ driver too...?

Did you have a passenger at the time?

If this isn't a joke you need to ensure that you minimise your points.
you should pay a solicitor for advice immediately and get ready to pay the fine as soon as he tells you that you're out of luck.
Don't fight it in court without a lawyer.

So my original question was does he not have to show you the speed and I don’t appreciate the other comments

imo I would have thought they would have to show you the evidence

You're wasting your time. He doesn't have to show you the speed gun.

No I got caught years ago with my dad beside me and he wouldn't show it, we were overtaking a horsebox at the time and weren't speeding but the cop pulled in about 4 of us, went straight into the local station where he was based to stake our case, got no hop.
Learned a valuable lesson that day, don't stop, just wave back.

Ya well that’s my point as if he doesn’t have to show you then why have it in the first place?

There is no stipulation that he needs to show you the speed on the gun, it is good practice to show it, but not a legal requirement.

To tell whether or not you're speeding would be my first guess :D
