I got a review for my medical card. I no longer qualify. I have a prescription for 6 months and my medical card will expire in August according to the review , can I get the rest of my prescription after August?

It really depends on how quick the HSE inform the pharmacist. I'd suggest you sign up to the Drug Payment Scheme at some stage however. My wife lost her card and approx 2/3 weeks later her GP was able to make her aware.

The prescription will be valid for 6 months however won't be valid for reimbursement from the start of September. You can still pay privately after that though.
You could also chance your arm to see if the pharmacy will give you all six months in one go. Some that aren't tuned in and just see a valid number now will dispense it.

However some of us do check the expiry date when advance dispensing as the hse changed it's policy a while back. Previously if an expired medical card number was printed on the prescription payment would be honoured. All of a sudden it stopped and is now hit and miss if the pharmacy will be reimbursed or not
