It was a repeat of the RTE Prime Time Investigates into politicians disclosures and they had an actress pretending to be involved in wind farms and some politicians appeared to be blatantly asking her for money e.g. Hugh McElvaney.
At the end it said that the three politicians involved (some of whom are still serving LA councillors) would be facing SIPO hearings in September

Effectively it showed that despite everything we still have blatant political corruption

All three seem to be on their respective councils still.
Shocking really but hardly surprising. I’m guessing that a lot of people would put forth some form of justification or defense of what they were up to.
Otherwise wouldn’t there have been some for of local outcry and/or they would have been voted out.
Much like Michael Lowry in Tipperary, the vocal majority of people they represent don’t want to know or can see what they have done wrong. It’s crazy when you think of how people go to these ‘Pillars’ to make representation to the health service or local authority, both underfunded, when they themselves are busy evading tax or looking for ‘sterling Nina’

It's 'what can he/they do for me?' folks seem to vote based on personal self interest not the greater good, which is to be expected but some characters really test that.

Only children genuinely believe in the idea that there's a political system that is based on "the greater good"; best one can hope for is personal interest that has a net positive impact. Everyone else either (i) grows out of it or (ii) has their own personal agenda.

The very few that don't fall into those categories are packing their bags: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principality_of_Sealand
