Hermit crabs in the surf.

    Just thought I'd mention it to anyone paddling along a sandy beach this time of year if you keep your eyes open you might spot small Hermit Crabs in the surf at the edge of the beech in only mm of water. Often the waves will wash them in and then pull them back out again.

    Not my video but this is the sort of thing I'm on about....



    I was on Clonea beach in Co Waterford today and spotted quite a few, often in pairs either mating or fighting I'm not sure which but they are so small that hardly anyone ever sees them unless they are pointed out the them. On Clonea the Hermit Crabs mostly use winkle shells as homes so that gives you an idea of how small they are.
