    Nissan Leaf.
How do you get the aircon to cool the car down remotely.
It switches on but the car is not cool when I get to it 15 mins later.
I have it set to 16C but the car doesn't cool down remotely. Heats up with no problems

On mine (151) it works in exactly the same way as the preheater. I have it set up on a timer, and I can also turn it on using the app. The only difference is that I’ve set the temp to 16 rather than the 23 I was using to preheat.

I think on the older ones, the a/c doesn't come on with the app.

I had a 2014 and you need to set the "app temperature" in the car.
So you can activate the ac/heat from the app but you cannot set the temp. There's a submenu in the car where you need to set the remote temperature.

It's a pity the app can't be used to set the temp, that would be very cool. It's a bit cumbersome that you have to go into the sub menu on the car to do it, but I guess you'd only need to do it a couple of times a year.

I'm pretty sure the remote climate control only turns on the fan (and heater if necessary), but not the air con itself - a ridiculous system.

I was sure mine turned on the AC... during the summer it was ice cold a matter of minutes after being set, even in 25+

Not so sure about this. Over the past few days I've remotely turned on the system and the cabin was definitely very cool when getting in. Much moreso than I'd expect if it was only using the fan, I'd say. Could be wrong, but the effect is the same, the car is nicely chilled.

I haven't tried to cool the car, but heating it in the winter results in a toasty warm car, with condensation covered windows that I can't see out of!

    2011 yoke.

Sounds like something's wrong. The preheater leaves the windows clear in mine (2015).

Just as an aside (apologies OP), how is your car holding up overall after 7 years? How's the range?

Agreed, we use the preheating a lot, never as much as a drop of condensation ever

Definitely turned on the AC in both my Mk1.5 24kWh and Mk1.75 30kWh Leaf. Not sure the MK1 does though.

Try and use the aircon more in the winter, it will help keep the interior dry as it dehumidifies the air. Unfortunate you can't set it on with the pre-heating though.

Check the pollen filter too, and make sure recirculation is off.

Hmm......my 152 Mk1.5 definitely doesn't turn on the air con when pre-heating in winter (and I've seen other reports of this) - windows are fogged up unless it's on for a good while. I presumed it was the same with remote climate at the moment - the car has been cool the few times I've used it recently alright, but it's also parked in the shade.

Ah, I didn't realise you were talking about the AC coming on for pre-heating in winter. I thought you meant for pre-cooling in summer.

From memory, though, I'm fairly sure (90%) that the AC does come on in my 151 when preheating in winter. The windows definitely clear very quickly (unless there's heavy frost).

Does the AC work for you when driving along?

On Auto the AC rarely comes on, if ever. Hard to give a precise answer as I always turn it on manually anyway (i.e. I press Auto, then A/C).

Ok, so it does work then? Just asking in case there's an issue with the AC system itself rather than the pre-heating and pre-cooling set up.

Mine works well on "auto" but it's more noticeable if I set the temp down really low. If I leave it at 18/19 degrees, the AC wouldn't come on as much.

She's holding up fine. Passed 170k kms yesterday. Lost my 3rd bar a month or two ago.

As for range, I genuinely don't know. I'd imagine I'm up around 70-80kms, if not more.
LeafSpy is a Godsend for the range. The "very low battery" warning would come up on the dash and my range drops to --, but LeafSpy would still show I have around 15% left. Extra few kms.

    Thankyou guys.
I'll look for that hidden menu.
The fan comes on alright but I wouldn't say its airconned.
Then when you start the car and turn on the aircon you can feel the cool air in a few seconds.
Pity it wont do that remotely in this weather.

Thanks guys. I found that hidden menu.
It was hidden so well I cant even remember where it was.
It allowed me to set the climate control temperature, and was at 20 so I changed it to 16.
I came back to a lovely cool car today.
So thankyou for all your help.

Jesus this is a fantastic feature and I wish it was in all cars ...neighbors a few doors down have a leaf and he was showing me this only yesterday and to be able to heat the car on cold days brilliant.. does it kill the charge much when using it away from home ?

It will take some energy, depending on the temperature difference, but if you turn it on only 5 minutes beforehand, the car will be suitably warm/cold by the time you reach it.
