Battery dead this morning. Can only find + terminal on battery. From reading online there doesnt seem to be a negative terminal and advise is to connect red lead to + and black lead to metal object under bonnet.
My question is does it matter what metal object its connected to? There is a metal cover over the main part of the engine. Would that do?

Since a lot of cars now have their battery tucked away making the negative terminal inaccessible, they usually have an earthing point somewhere on the metal framework of the engine that's easy to get to. Biko's photo seems to show that point for the c4.

    Thanks for help guys.
I got it jump started last week.
Battery is dead as a doornail again today (was going tp replace it tomorrow!!)
Tried to start it with the wifes car.
Her + battery terminal has an annoying plastic wrapping on it that wont come off easily.
I tore off as much as i could and got clamp on it.

My car still wont start and im wondering if its because the connection to + terminal is not good enough or is it possible for the battery to be so dead that it cant be jump started?

Just trying to get it going so i can get it to garage.

So... did you look at the picture?

Sometimes you have to wait a few mins before the dead battery have enough juice to crank the car. Keep the good car running.

yeah, i followed the directions on the picture and it worked perfectly for me last week.

Today i tried to jump start it straight away and it didn't work.
I didn't realise that its better to wait a few minutes first.

    will try that this evening,
    Thanks for your help
