Battery light is a problem with the alternator or the belt that drives it, clicking noise is a relay for something that's turning on and off as the power drops.

Thanks for that,as the light comes on then off after about 20 seconds,he said he will wait till it comes on fully on before replacing altenator,as for the clicking noise, will see if it gets worse,or affects anything

His car is being kind enough to give obvious forewarning here. He'd be well advised to get this sorted before he gets stranded...

Yes- 100%, he is being foolish to put it off.

Thanks for replying, since i posted,he told me the light has not come on,but that clicking sound is still there, comes on a few seconds after start up,seems to be comeing from drivers side, ive heard it,sounds like a light switch being turned on/off said he will get it tested

Yes this is just typical bad practice then will be giving out that the car has let him down

Got it sorted.turns out it was the speed sensor on the gear box.
