    Hey all,

This car ticks the boxes for me/boot space yet not too big etc, been looking for an MPV or medium sized estate such as this.

I know the golf is well regarded, so really just wondering if this engine/gearbox variant is a proven combination.

They are alright. That one isn't a great example but the price is right I suppose. It's a very low spec even by Irish standards, the wheels aren't original and it's a UK import for what its worth. I'd definitely be doing a history check on it.

They are a fairly reliable car. They are very prone to EGR valve and injector issues. Aside from that they are otherwise fairly robust. If it's had the emissions update carried out VW will cover and EGR or injector failures it has after the update, so it may be worth doing if it hasn't been done, maybe.

Golf plus Donegal reg would raise the hairs on the back of my neck as to how that car was treated by it's original Irish owner. Even though it's an estate, the aftermarket alloy wheels would suggest to me that it probably wasn't owned by a middle aged family man. Seller has 6 other cars for sale too so is obviously a part time dealer of sorts.

Could have been Daniel O Donnells bus for carrying band equipment!

That car did 36000 miles in its first year in the UK, I would be double checking the service history after that.

I'd see that as a plus for a diesel engine.

The thing is it’s a whole car you’d be buying.

I'm not following you - the car you linked to has done 134k?

We were implying since the car did 36k in year 1, and has since only amassed another 100... it’s quite possibly clocked, whilst u reckon 36k a year might be a plus for a Diesel engine the rest of the car however might not have aged as well if that mileage was kept up.
