    Hi,

As per the title really, want to watch rte (live, not the limited player app) on my lg smart TV but don't want to install an aerial or satellite dish. Live in a rented house and don't particularly wish to do any install work.

Change ISP to one that provides IPTV - Magnet, Eir, Vodafone. Or Virgin and get their basic TV package.

Depending on where you live an indoor aerial might be good enough for reception.

Yes a small compact indoor aerial pointing in the direction of nearest mast ( get info from Saorview website ) should do
PM me if you need one

    Hi all,

Ended up getting an indoor aerial on Friday. Works fine except can't get rte 1 or rte Jr. Will go back to the shop next week to exchange for a more powerful one. Got it from did who where very helpful. On their advice I got their lowest powered model with the idea that if it didn't work I could come back and exchange for something more powerful.

Aerials don't have power. The shop does not know what they are talking about. Doubt if another one will be any better. Aerials are meant to be outside around 10 metres high, not indoors.

I may be getting the terminology wrong - the aerial I got was rated at 37db and they had other indoor aerials rated at 45db.
I get the point about outdoor aerials - but was pleasantly surprised that the indoor aerial worked at all and for my use case seems fine, except for the two 'missing' channels.

A coat hanger is just as good if you have slight of the nearest mast.

For powered indoor aerials, amplification probably. Only so much good amplification can do.
