Leaving monthly paid job for weekly paid job

I'm starting a new job midway through July which will be paid weekly. My current job pays monthly at the end of every month.

What is the process for switching jobs midway through a working month? Will I have to wait until my last paycheck in my current job to tell revenue that I've changed jobs? Will I be emergency taxed for the first two weeks in my new job?

    Any help appreciated, cheers

If you have been in a monthly job and paid within that month
    Eg june income
    Tax by current employer
They will use your rate band and credits

When you leave the job and move tax credits over within the same month and get paid in June again you will have no credits to reduce you tax bill because you previous employer used the credits in June so it’s not emergency tax but just no credits

This will be stated on the p45
Your calculation on 20% and 40% should be ok once you move the rate band and credits and provide the p45 to the new payroll dept in reasonable timeframe so they can correctly calculatewhat is due at 20% and how much at 40% but your June credits may already be used

It will reset itself for July income

Thank you. When would be the best time to contact revenue to tell them I have changed jobs? Before I start the new job?

Directly after your final payment using the new employer details because it will take 24hrs to update on your my account with revenue (assuming you have it registered)

If not , you will need to wait until a new amended tax Cert is received in the post

A copy of the cert is to be provided to the new employer

So after you get your final wage , ring the revenue

As soon as you get the p45 from the previous employer send it straight to payroll dept in the new employer without delay to ensure a smooth transition

Also ensure your last wage packet includes any due holiday pay hours your entitled to

So get it all done together

Wages + due holiday balance in final pay

What if it's likely that I will receive my first pay check from my new employer BEFORE my final paycheck from my old employer?
