    Hello,

Just wondering if there are any recommendations for an independent (fee paying) Financial Advisor in Dublin? I don't personally know of any and it's very difficult to find one and check out different companies online. If anybody can recommend one that would be great!

Central bank has a list of registered financial intermediaries.

May not be the best if you are looking for recommendations from clients but it is a start.

    Hi,

I suggest that you specify what type of expertise you are specifically looking for.

Obviously advisors cover a lot of different sectors, including mortgages, protection policies, investments and savings, pensions, insurance etc. so probably best to get recommendations for the specific sector you are interested in getting assistance with.

The fact that you have specified that you want a fee based advisor is a good move, as you want to try and ensure that the advisor is giving independent advice and not motivated by the level of commission they may receive for selling certain companies products or services. Some advisors will work on a fee basis, but possibly also get a commission later if you elect to take up a product or service through them. In these instances, they will usually make this very clear and offer to share the commission with you, or refund the fee that you have paid if you sign up with them, but always ensure you ask about this from the outset (just in case ;)).

    .

    Thanks,

    G.

Thanks, I’m mainly looking for advice on possibly all the above that you mentioned. I would like to purchase a house in the next two years and invest a very small sum too. Would also like to do some work on the family home. Not sure if I'd have enough to do it all so that's why I need the advice.

    Hi,

If it's that varied, then a good all round advisor is probably fine, at least as a starting point.

    Where are you based ?

I could give you one or two suggestions if you are in / near Dublin. I've a couple of contacts elsewhere in the country, but obviously location is a factor for everyone.

    Thanks,

    G.

Thanks, I’m based in Dublin but could travel to Wicklow/Kildare/Meath if needs be.

    Cheers

    No problem,

I've sent you a private message with some details.

Elgriff is correct about Padraic Kisanne also being good on mortgages, but he's been heavily tied up in dealing with disputes regarding Tracker Mortgages (particularly with AIB) over the last while.

I've no experience or knowledge of Ethical Financial, good or bad so can't make any comment on them sorry :)

    Thanks,

    G.
