Hi. I need to pick up something quick in the next couple of days. My 00 focus is on it's last legs. Was looking for a mk2 prius but nothing ever comes up in my locality. Saw this online and was thinking of having a look. Main thing I'm looking for is reliability and reasonable performance. Thanks

It's not quick (understatement of the year) but it should get you from a to b in reasonable comfort and without breaking the bank, the exemple linked looks clean enough, full service history (if documented) is a big plus. I'd go and have a look, if you can, bring a mechanic with you to inspect it (unless you're yourself mechanically minded).

Sister has the same car with that engine.
Its not fast but its incredibly reliable, spacious and drives well.

Thanks for the replies, when I said quick I didn't mean the car, I meant within the next few days 😀

Ha ha, have the saloon 1.8, the hatch 1.4 engine is a little unrefined but the car is great and absolutely solid - have mechanics as friends and they all drive Jap even though they are mechs for ford/renault. They all believe Honda to be the best of the bunch.

Hard to go wrong with it so long has services occuring.

Well, you did mention "reasonable performance" :D , have a look at it and test drive it, see if it fits your bill. Might give a look at this one as well. It's a decent car, should be reliable as well and will definitely feel a bit birsker than the civic.

And if you don't need 5 doors, this might be of interest as well. Reliable, nice to drive and should be relatively easy on insurance and petrol.

They are a great car (that one is even in my wifes colour which looks great) but the tax is 625 per year pre 08, once you are aware of this its fine. 1.8 is smooth and refined single overhead cam but has vtec so likes its revs if you want to put the foot down:D

Also in terms of economy the 1.8 is same as 1.4 if you dont drive it with heavy foot but a much nicer engine - saloon is independent rear suspension and hatch is torsion beam however hatch has the magic back seats (very handy)
