Why not just get your car fixed? A genuine BMW EGR is pretty cheap.

I've already had 2 failed on me already in 2 years

    Ya so getting rid

Must be some underlying issue causing the failure. Those EGRs aren’t great but 2 in 2 years is not normal.

Had vaccum pipes checked and replaced and still failed after few months later so decided to remove it

If they end up bringing in the emissions tests that they recently introduced to the MOT in the UK, then deleting stuff like this will be a problem for passing NCTs in the future.

Apparently cars are still passing the mot with no dpf

Probably before but last year the UK introduced a physical check for the dpf.

So tempted , I’ve the 3litre 525d so I’d go from 204 to around 260hp with room to spare.

    Ah this old chestnut

If this DPF check is ever introduced for our NCT, it will likely emulate the MOT requirement in the UK whereby they check for the physical presence of a DPF canister.

They will not be able to tell if it has been gutted or software bypassed.

there are threads on this website dating back to 2012 for Gods sake where people are scaremongering about DPF testing in the NCT (just search DPF + NCT) .... it's now 2018 and guess what there is still NO DPF test for the NCT.

At this rate by the time they introduce it Diesels will be illegal and immoral :D

If they ever get around to introducing DPF checks, they may as well do it alongside GPF (Gasolne Particulate Filters)

    https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry/volkswagen-equips-petrol-cars-particulate-filter-technology

    2 birds , 1 stone .

Wouldn't surprise me if in the future owning ANY car will become will become "illegal and immoral"

Ive used Autoremap for all my BMW remapping over the years, from 320d to 535d.

I also used MFK Remapping when I had an issue with the EGR on my ML, my sisters Passat CC and my mates 520d DPF delete.

They always did a visual check. Now they can apparently tell if the car really does have a DPF or not. If the MOT tester deems the car to have had the DPF knowingly tampered or removed then it's an instant MOT fail. Exactly how they determine this I do not know, but if there is any evidence of cutting or re-welding then that's sufficient for it to be a failure (unless you can show the tester evidence that this was done for legitimate reasons - such as washing out the filter because of a blockage).

They'll also instantly fail you for any evidence of tampering with other exhaust emissions equipment, such as SCR systems and EGR valves.

    It was a mental car!
When I sold it, the next guy removed the DPF and remapped to suit. It put down just under 365bhp on the RR.

My old Evo was 360bhp too, but that was a different beast, the torque in the 535 was so addictive!

Be hard to part with all that power

How much did the map cost you for the 535?

With my car history it was easy. I went from the evo to a D4D avensis!
Swapped into an S3 at some stage and V8 X5 so my cars tend to jump from one extreme to another. The long term posters in here would know that.

Did u leave the egr and other stuff in

Yes I left it all alone. The next buyer after me removed them though and further mapped it to take account of that.

Can’t remember exactly to be honest. I arranged a group buy at the time so we got a discount as we had over 10 cars.
