2012 Ford Focus 3.5 jack

Hi folks, I've a Bluetooth kit to install in my focus and there's a aux connection in the glove box but it needs to connect a 3.5 audio jack to the speakers but I can't find it. I checked the back of the radio but there's nothing. Any ideas?

What bluetooth kit is it? Is it just for music streaming or for phone calls?

Sorry folks I'm a complete novice, the kit has an auxiliary connector and a 3.5 jack, I believe it can be used for calls and streaming music from the phone BUT in the car I found the auxiliary "port" but no 3.5 Jack to plug the kit into the speakers. Maybe this will help

Sorry folks I'm a complete novice, the kit has two wires one is an auxiliary connector and the other a 3.5 jack that is to be plugged into the speakers , I believe it can be used for calls and streaming music from the phone BUT in the car I found the auxiliary "port" in the glove box but no 3.5 Jack to plug the kit into the speakers.I took out the radio thinking there might be one at the back of the radio but there's nothing.

The aux in for your stereo is basically the speakers. Ie the output from the kit plays through the 3.5mm cable which is input into your stereo and music comes out.

I’m guessing there’s also an aux in to the kit, which for want of a better term bypasses the kit and connects another device into your cars radio without disconnecting the Bluetooth kit.

I think I get what your saying and I can plug a memory stick with music into the aux in the glove box and it will play through the stereo but I think the aux part of the Bluetooth kit is just for charging and the male jack is meant for the speakers but there's no female jack connection in the car to the speakers just the aux. I probably need a female jack to aux adapter
like this???

What you call the aux in the glove box is a USB port. In cars aux usually refers to a 3.5mm connection so that's what is confusing people. I don't think that kit will work with your car if there is no 3.5mm socket in the car. You may be able to get something to connect to the back of your radio but it will probably cost a bit more.

Edit: Google suggests that your car should have a 3.5mm socket either in the glove compartment or under the armrest

I took out the radio thinking there would be a connection (like in the old days :rolleyes:)

Would you think the usb adapter in the pic would work for the sound??
There's no armrest but where the usb port is fitted into the glove box there is also a "space/hole" beside it where I'd assume there was a 3.5 socket but it's empty and that's why I assumed there would be some kid of connection at the rear of the radio.

That adapter probably won't work. The 3.5mm connector is analogue whereas USB is digital. The radio can use the USB port to access stored files but I don't think it will be able to pass an analogue signal to your speakers.

I don't know if that exact one will fit though so worth doing some research

I think the analogue and digital is going to be the issue, upside is I know now what I want for the birthday ;-)

Wait a sec, does you ur car have a 3.5mm jack, I know some fords only have USB but it should be easy to check. Also, if you have USB, have you tried just plugging your phone into the USB?

No there's no jack just the USB and yes I've plugged the phone into the USB there was some message about storage not recognised kid have to check again)
