Does anyone know the location of the emergency release latch in the trunk of a Ford Focus Edge saloon? It's a 2012 model. Thanks.

If it’s the newer (current model, well the one that’s about to be replaced) model, then if it has one it’ll be really obvious and brightly coloured, it’s like a tag that’s stuck to the inside of the boot door, not sure if European market got this, the likes if the US and Canada certainly did,

It’s about 6 inches from the middle on the drivers side and about halfway up. If it has one.

It would be detailed in the manual.

Thanks Colm. I can't see it unfortunately so I'm guessing it doesn't have one. Unless it is tucked behind the panels at the side which I'd say is unlikely.

Can't see any mention in the manual.

They dont have one but if you crawl into the boot on drivers side and look where the wiring loom flexes on the end of the boot hinge black and white wire usually breaks there.

As far as I know, it's a legal requirement for US cars to have a trunk release inside the boot. But manufacturers usually don't add it to European cars. Not sure what that says about Americans getting stuck inside their boots.

It’s an anti kidnapping measure. I would have thought if you were going to bundle someone into the boot you’d at least break the release mechanism first.

I climbed into the boot and noticed that there's a blue wire hanging down on the inside left of the trunk (passenger side). I've never noticed this before, but wondering if i've pulled it out by accident.

Car is giving me a warning that the trunk is open. But i can't get it to open using the key fob or by pressing the button on the rear of the car.

What do you class as left side ?? I would call passenger side left. Wiring harness should be on drivers side.

Sorry, yes, by left side i meant passenger side.

There is a wire hanging down with a connector of some sort on the end of it.

Dont mind that nothing to do with it. Look on the right hand hinge there is a loom in conjuit there is a broken wire in there.

Fair play - you were 100% right. Climbed in and managed to open the boot by holding wire ends together and hitting the key fob. I've taped it up for the moment but will need a proper repair I'm guessing.

Some heat shrink wrap, possibly a bit of extra wire if you think more slack is required and solder it all together. Nice handy job for you over the weekend :)
