2.0 Tfsi engine struggling to start in the morning

Picked up a new car last week, 2008 Audi S3, 2.0 Tfsi so same engine as a VW GTI with all the same common faults I'd assume...

I have a feeling my fuel pump or possibly the cam follower on the pump is on its way out, if someone more familiar with these engines could confirm the symptom I'm having that'd be very helpful.

Basically when I go to start the car after it's been sitting for a good while (all night) it cranks 5 or so times then splutters into life, the car starts first or second crank from there on for the rest of the day.

When you open the drivers door in the morning do you hear the fuel pump priming?

I hear a loud whirring noise when I turn the ignition on, doors closed, louder than any fuel pump I've ever heard (if that is even the pump).

I'll get a video of the start up in the morning, hopefully picks up the sounds

Possible injector issue. Should be easy enough to diagnose.

No, that could be Hvac related or anything, when you open the drivers door you should hear the fuel pump prime in the rear of the car, it's a very noticeable sound especially on a quiet morning. If you don't hear that then you either have a problem with the pump or more likely the signal from the door lock/module telling the car the door is actually open.

EDIT: George is here i'll stand down :D

Bit late posting this, car was starting fine all week, didn't drive it yesterday then this was the morning start up.

Really strange, car runs prefect after, no misfires and accelerates as intended (fast!)
